"SHM said it has been continuously enhancing its advanced driver assistance system (ADAS), Afeela Intelligent Drive, while evolving it into an end-to-end AI model that integrates Vision-Language Model (VLM). Starting with Level 2+ driver assistance that supports travel from the departure point to the destination, the company aims to achieve Level 4-equivalent capabilities in the future, transforming the in-vehicle space into a "drive-less" environment."
Sony Honda Mobility presented a pre-production Afeela 1 and the Afeela Prototype 2026 at CES 2026. SHM was established by Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Co in 2022 to combine Sony's consumer electronics technology and Honda's automotive expertise and to provide high-value-added mobility and mobility services. Afeela centers on advanced sensing, interactive technology and human-centred design described as "the fusion of intelligence and emotion in motion." SHM confirmed adoption of Qualcomm's Snapdragon Digital Chassis, launched the Afeela Co-Creation Programme for creator access to development documentation, and announced an open on-chain token-based mobility service platform. SHM is enhancing Afeela Intelligent Drive ADAS toward an end-to-end AI model integrating Vision-Language Model capabilities. The Afeela Personal Agent uses Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service.
