In her commencement speech at Emerson College, Jennifer Coolidge celebrated her journey from dropping out of the school to achieving success in Hollywood. Coolidge, a Norwell native, shared her struggles, including waiting tables and facing multiple rejections before finding fame. Now at 60, she highlighted her recent successes, including winning two Emmys and starring in the highest-grossing movie of 2025. Her message to the graduating students centered on embracing their dreams with confidence, ignoring negativity, and believing in their potential to achieve incredible things.
"When you find the thing you want to do, I really want to highly recommend, just friggin' go for it," Coolidge said. "You really have to psyche yourself up into believing absurd possibilities, and you have to believe they are not absurd."
"If you had told the kids I grew up with that I would have the opportunity to do this, they would have laughed in your face," Coolidge said, reflecting on her journey.
