Truth behind energy drink that is 'flagged as cocaine' in drug tests
Briefly

A false claim emerged suggesting that Celsius energy drinks could lead to false positive cocaine test results, causing confusion among athletes. This started with a tweet from a sports reporter suggesting MLB teams were advising players against Celsius. However, the National Sanitation Foundation clarified that no ingredient in Celsius is known to trigger such a result. While Celsius contains high taurine levels, which raise health concerns, there’s no evidence linking it to false positives. Celsius is also not on the approved list for professional athletes' drinks.
We are not aware of any specific ingredient in Celsius that would cause a positive drug test result, nor have we communicated such concerns to any MLB club or player.
The controversy began when a Detroit Tigers sports reporter tweeted on June 8 that Major League Baseball (MLB) teams are advising players to avoid the popular drink.
