The Public Security Police (PSP) of Évora have dismantled a significant drug trafficking network across central Alentejo after a year and a half of investigation. The operation led to the arrest of 13 suspects, including nine men and four women, with a substantial amount of drugs seized: approximately 135,695 doses of hashish, along with cocaine and ecstasy, alongside cash and firearms. Authorities highlight this operation as one of the largest drug seizures in the Alentejo region in recent years, marking a major blow against organized crime.
"This is one of the largest seizures in recent years, not just for the PSP, but for the entire Alentejo region," PSP sub-commissioner Nuno Albardeiro told a press conference on Friday.
The crackdown began with an arrest in Évora and escalated with 29 coordinated search warrants executed across the region, including the Santarém District.
