"For more than a year he battled the brain cancer, glioblastoma. He leaves his wife Tracey, his sons Josh and Jed and a new grandson, and many friends and former colleagues who will all miss him greatly."
Phil Woolas, a former Labour MP and minister, passed away at age 66 following a prolonged battle with glioblastoma brain cancer lasting over a year. He represented Oldham East and Saddleworth from 1997 to 2010 and held ministerial positions in local government, environment, and immigration under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. Before his parliamentary career, Woolas served as NUS president, worked as a TV producer, and held the position of GMB union communications director. He is survived by his wife Tracey, sons Josh and Jed, and a grandson. His 1997 election victory by 103 votes was later declared void by an election court.
