Feargal Sharkey reveals prostate cancer diagnosis and urges men to get checked
Briefly

Feargal Sharkey, former lead singer of the Undertones, urged men over 45 to get tested for prostate cancer following his own diagnosis discovered during a GP visit for a sore throat. Sharkey, now resolved of the illness, stated his condition could have gone unnoticed without the visit. In 2023, prostate cancer has become the most common cancer in England with over 55,000 cases diagnosed. He highlighted that one in eight men are unknowingly affected, stressing timely testing for better health outcomes.
If there's one man out there over the age of 45 go and see your GP. Go and get the blood test done.
Thankfully, that's all now been resolved a year ago. But here we are, had it not been for that random visit... I would never have known.
It's quite astonishing to think that in this country right now, one in eight men have prostate cancer, most of them don't even know it.
Prostate cancer can be treated easily in its early stages, so go and have the blood test and if you're lucky, you'll walk away.
