Via Rail train 48 departed Toronto about 6:40 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Ottawa around 11:10 p.m. The train stopped in Brockville around 9 p.m. and remained held until further notice due to an operational constraint after a rescue of another train with a mechanical issue. Passengers reported frustration and lack of clear explanation for the delay. Pickups were missed in Brockville, and a doctor waited at Smiths Falls for about six hours before leaving around 3 a.m. An inquiry was made to Via Rail for information about the affected trains. Via Rail issued a full refund and a credit toward a future trip.
