More than 70 Palestinian students are struggling with stalled immigration to Canada despite holding admission and scholarships from various Canadian universities. Meera, an industrial engineering student accepted into the University of Regina, is one among those trapped in Gaza, unable to submit her visa application due to the ongoing war. The situation has escalated, with incidents like the death of twin sisters Sally and Dalia Ghazi, who were killed in an airstrike in December 2024 before they could start their academic dreams in Canada, illustrating the urgent need for action regarding student immigration.
