Former housing minister Nate Erskine-Smith expressed feelings of disrespect after being removed from his cabinet position by Prime Minister Mark Carney during a cabinet overhaul following the recent election. He had hoped to influence housing policy effectively and make a positive impact. Erskine-Smith acknowledged the difficult nature of the call informing him of his removal but expressed his commitment to still serving in Parliament. He retains his aim of making a significant difference in service to his constituents, despite the setbacks he's faced in cabinet.
Politicians are humans too, and it's impossible not to feel some disrespect that you put so much time in and that you came back for this and then it's not there anymore but there are no guarantees in life either.
One is in this business for one reason and one reason only if they're doing it right, and that's to make the biggest difference you can. So on that basis, it's frustrating for sure.
