The Magnetic Richard Harmon on 'Final Destination Bloodlines' - 'I'm Not Bad, Just Drawn That Way'
Briefly

In an interview with IndieWire, Richard Harmon discusses his role in 'Final Destination Bloodlines,' the latest film in the franchise he has long admired. He highlights his character, Erik Campbell, as both humorous and relatable, despite concerns that it might be misunderstood by audiences. Harmon insists on the importance of his character being likable, reflecting on the challenges of public perception. Even as his character meets an end early in the film, Harmon believes in the lasting impact of Erik's tragicomic storyline.
Mid-way through his conversation with IndieWire, Richard Harmon paused for a passing truck. Already on location for his next movie, the "Final Destination Bloodlines" actor stepped offset in sunny British Columbia to pick apart his killer performance in Warner Bros.' smash-hit reboot.
The sixth installment in New Line's beloved freak accident franchise is the best to date. It also has one of funniest and most relatable characters in the series, a clear fan favorite who Harmon fears may be misunderstood.
Harmon has readily defended his complex performance to the press. "Obviously, I wanted him to be likable. The amount of interviews I've done where people are like, 'So, Richard, you play a bit of a dick!' And I have to keep fighting back on that."
Sacrificed to his second weekend at the box office, Erik Campbell doesn't survive "Bloodlines," but the impact of his tragicomic arc suggests a cinematic legacy all its own.
