"Canada Reads is back. This year, the great Canadian book debate is looking for one book to build bridges. Stories connect us to different people, places and perspectives. The collection of titles for 2026 showcase the power storytelling has to inspire, connect and grow together. On Canada Reads, five Canadian celebrities each pick one book that all Canadians should read. They debate their choices over the course of four days, voting to eliminate one every day. The last book standing is the winner."

Canada Reads returns for its 25th edition in 2026, seeking one book to build bridges among readers. Five Canadian celebrities will each champion a chosen book and debate over four days, eliminating one title per day until a single winner remains. The 2026 broadcast will air April 13–16 across CBC TV, CBC Radio, CBC Listen, CBC Gem, CBC Books, YouTube and as a podcast. A longlist of diverse titles spans genres including hockey romance, memoir, historical fiction and horror, featuring works by Billy-Ray Belcourt, Jen Sookfong Lee, Iain Reid and others. Panellists and their chosen books will be revealed on Jan. 22.
