Reduced hours? Fewer stations? Details on phased approach to Eglinton LRT opening remain scarce | CBC News
"I am not in a position yet to give those details, that will come from the CEO once he's comfortable, Myers said. It will be similar to the testing period that we are currently in within Finch to see what's working, what's not working, what did we not anticipate to be a problem, and sort of working through those kinks as we go along."
"It won't be full hours when we open, and part of that is exactly from the learnings we've seen on other lines, he said. Initially the service will not be the full schedule, but we're adjusting our bus schedules to make sure that it can meet those needs."
Premier Doug Ford and Mayor Olivia Chow signalled the Eglinton Crosstown LRT would likely open on Feb. 8, while the TTC's CEO expressed more caution. Officials say the 19-kilometre, 25-station line will open with a phased-in approach, but specifics about section openings and hours are not finalized. TTC board chair Jamaal Myers compared the launch to the Finch LRT testing period, noting trains could run with reduced hours and only certain sections initially. Josh Colle, the TTC's chief strategy and customer officer, said opening service will not follow full hours and bus schedules are being adjusted. Officials are targeting the end of May for full service.
