""Ontario's a huge province. We can't ignore the fact the scale of this is unparalleled in terms of Canada.""
""wasn't acceptable""
""We've said publicly that it isn't our expectation that a resident should have anything to do other than bring it out on collection day and have it picked up,""
Circular Materials, a private company, took over recyclable collection for single-family homes, most multi-residential buildings, schools, long-term care facilities and retirement homes across Ontario on Jan. 1. The company's CEO blamed the provincial timing of the rollout for early disruptions, citing post-holiday timing, inclement weather and the heaviest collection days of the year. The CEO described the provincial scale as unparalleled in Canada and said the timing was not ideal. The company acknowledged missed pickups in parts of Toronto and said missed bins were unacceptable. The company stated that residents should only need to place bins out on collection day and expect pickup.
