Stellantis announced a US$13-billion plan to expand U.S. production by 50 percent over four years and will move Jeep production slated for the Brampton Assembly Plant to Illinois. Ontario Premier Doug Ford expressed disappointment and urged Stellantis to live up to commitments to workers. Prime Minister Mark Carney linked the decision to U.S. tariffs and said the government will work with Stellantis to create opportunities around Brampton while expecting the company to fulfil its undertakings. Stellantis said it continues investing in Canada, adding a third shift in Windsor and discussing future plans for Brampton. Unifor called on Ottawa to protect auto jobs.
