Ontario's government says it has not signed any new leases or purchased real estate to accommodate 60,000 public sector workers required to return to the office five days a week. The return-to-office mandate deadline passed nearly two months ago. Unions report serious space shortages in many buildings. Workers are sharing desks, crowding into common areas, using boardrooms for multiple people with laptops, or being sent home by managers because there is no space. AMAPCEO reports members face mixed directions from managers. The Premier says the province is working on finding additional office space. The policy increases in-office attendance beginning Oct. 20, 2025 and mandates full-time in-office by Jan. 5.
