"We're extending the elimination of double fares through One Fare to make transit more affordable and convenient, saving commuters up to $1,600 each year."
"I applaud the Ontario government for its commitment to supporting residents and making public transit more accessible, Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow said in a statement. With our decision at the City of Toronto not to raise TTC fares for three years running, and the extension of the One Fare program allowing commuters to pay once when transferring from GO Transit to the TTC, we are delivering a more affordable city for Torontonians."
The One Fare program has been extended for two years to eliminate double fares across participating Greater Toronto Area and GO Transit services. Since its 2024 launch, nearly 62 million free transfers have been recorded across agencies including the TTC, Brampton Transit, Durham Region Transit and MiWay. Riders can use physical or digital Presto cards, debit cards, or credit cards when the same card is tapped on and off for the full trip. Transfers are valid for two hours when starting on a local agency and three hours when starting on GO Transit. The extension increases affordability and convenience for commuters.
