The Funding Accelerated for Specific Treatments, or FAST, program aims to connect patients to life-saving and life-changing cancer treatments almost a full year sooner, reducing delays and improving access, Jones said at the University Health Network's Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto."

Ontario will provide fast-tracked access to selected newly approved cancer drugs through the Funding Accelerated for Specific Treatments (FAST) program. The program will connect patients to life-saving and life-changing cancer treatments almost a full year sooner by reducing delays and improving access. FAST is designed to expedite access to seven to 10 high-priority cancer drugs each year that receive Health Canada approval while jurisdictions across Canada negotiate prices prior to public funding. The initiative prioritizes therapies with significant clinical benefit and seeks to shorten the interval between regulatory approval and publicly funded availability for eligible patients.
