More than 1,100 first-year students moved into Toronto Metropolitan University residences a week before classes. Many students and parents experienced a mix of excitement and nervousness about campus life. On-campus housing costs present a barrier for some students, though financial support and payment deferral options exist. Residence demand is high relative to limited downtown bed capacity, and a priority application system favors students who live farther away. University housing officials noted that demand this year is lower than in previous years, but available beds remain insufficient to house all applicants.
I'm really excited but also nervous, understandably. I'm going to miss my mom. I'm going to miss my home. But there's going to be so many new adventures,
I've got a cute little bulletin board that I'm going to put up my photos on, and I think my closet will fit all of my clothes, guys, so I'm really excited.
We do an application that is a priority system. Students who are further away from the institution are prioritized.
Obviously, downtown is small, we have a limited number of beds. Based on the first-year population in residence we have quite a small group with us. You know, it's hard for us to house everybody,
