FBI to give update on 'major' investigation amid U.S. media reports Ryan Wedding in custody | CBC
"Ryan Wedding, 44, has spent more than 10 years on the run from authorities while allegedly leading a murderous, transnational drug-smuggling empire. Born in Thunder Bay, Ont., Wedding later moved to Coquitlam, B.C., and competed for Canada in snowboarding in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah. He's been listed as one of the FBI's 10 most-wanted fugitives since March 2025, with the U.S. State Department offering a $15-million US reward for information leading to his arrest."
"I'm Thomas Daigle, a senior reporter with CBC News who has been following the search for Ryan Wedding for many months now. Wedding's apparent capture brings to an end a search that began in 2015, when the RCMP sought to arrest him on cocaine trafficking charges after the Mounties' large-scale Operation Harrington investigation into drug imports to Canada. Wedding, who was then living in Montreal, disappeared and avoided capture until now."
Ryan Wedding was a competitive snowboarder for Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics and later became a fugitive accused of leading a transnational drug-smuggling organization. Authorities allege the network imported about 60 metric tonnes of cocaine annually into Los Angeles via semi-trailer trucks from Mexico. The RCMP sought Wedding in 2015 after Operation Harrington, and he disappeared while living in Montreal. U.S. authorities placed him on the FBI's 10 most-wanted list and the U.S. State Department offered up to $15 million for information; multiple former associates have been found dead.
