Conservative MP Jivani says Trump gave him a message for Canadians during Washington trip | CBC News
"Productive meetings today with the White House and State Department. The President asked me to pass along a message: 'Tell the Canadians I love them.' I'll have much more to say later."
"something to offer to help build bridges of communication between our two countries."
"Minister LeBlanc gave a briefing to Mr. Jivani, who I don't believe is the trade critic for the Opposition, certainly not the minister of international trade or the prime minister of Canada."
Jamil Jivani visited Washington on an independent trip aimed at improving Canada–U.S. trade relations. He met with White House and State Department officials and relayed President Trump's message telling Canadians 'I love them.' Jivani offered to work with Liberals ahead of the trip but said he was snubbed after emailing key players. Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc briefed Jivani before the visit. Prime Minister Mark Carney said the Liberal government maintains constant contact with the U.S. administration and noted Jivani is not the opposition trade critic or the minister of international trade. Jivani said he exchanged emails.
