""I remember coming here when I was 13 to be on a radio show and how nervous I was,""
""I'm slightly less nervous today at age 38. So I hope that by the time I host the show, I'll be feeling looped up and warm.""
""So I hope the audience gets a little raucous,""
Mae Martin, a Toronto-born comedian, actor, writer and musician, will host the 55th Juno Awards on March 29 in Hamilton. Martin previously hosted the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards and created the Netflix show Wayward. Martin was nominated for a Juno comedy album two years earlier and becomes the first comedian to solo host the Junos since Russell Peters in 2009. The ceremony will feature performances by Daniel Caesar (who will receive the international achievement award), William Prince, Arkells and the Beaches. Joni Mitchell will receive a lifetime achievement award, and Nelly Furtado will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Martin aims for a loose, music-show atmosphere with a raucous audience.
