A Canadian coalition called the Canadian Network on Cuba is preparing to send its nineteenth shipping container of aid to Cuba since 2020. The container will carry medical supplies, canned food, powdered milk, rice, beans, cooking oil, generators and mattresses and will depart Canada by ship on March 7 to arrive in Havana or Santiago de Cuba. Aid items will be distributed to local governments. The coalition consists of 24 organizations. A U.S. threat of tariffs on countries selling or providing oil to Cuba has prompted energy rationing. Canada upgraded its travel advisory to orange because of worsening shortages of fuel, electricity and basic necessities including food, water and medicine.
