Chris Glover will take over as host of CBC Radio’s Metro Morning in Toronto. He has guest hosted the show multiple times and will officially assume the host chair on Thursday. Glover grew up in the suburbs and has relied on CBC to connect with Toronto. He brings 17 years of experience with Canada’s public broadcaster, with roles as a reporter in Halifax and a legislative correspondent in Manitoba, and frequent assignments at CBC’s D.C. bureau. His reporting included moments after the overturning of Roe v. Wade. In Toronto, he has hosted and reported for CBC News and CBC News Network and most recently co-hosted the investigative TV show Marketplace. CBC Toronto’s managing editor praised his enthusiasm and his ability to provide timely context.
"“Since I was a little kid growing up in the suburbs, I've relied on CBC to help me connect with my favourite city, Toronto. Joining the Metro Morning team as the next host is a dream come true,” he said. “I admire the show's ability to empower, entertain and bring people together, so this opportunity is an honour.”"
"“Regular CBC listeners will be no stranger to Glover, whose warmth, enthusiasm and keen eye for news has marked a 17-year career with Canada's public broadcaster. Born and raised in Whitby, Ont., Glover has worked as a reporter in Halifax, a legislative correspondent in Manitoba, and was frequently deployed at CBC's D.C. bureau where he reported from the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court in the moments after the overturning of Roe v. Wade.”"
"“Back home in Toronto, Glover has hosted and reported for CBC News, CBC News Network and, most recently, was one of the hosts of CBC's investigative TV show Marketplace. “Chris's enthusiasm for Toronto news is boundless,” said Laura Green, CBC Toronto's managing editor. “There aren't enough hours in Metro Morning for all the stories I know he'll want to tell.”"
"“His years unpacking the day's top stories have given him a profound understanding of how critical it is for journalists to give audiences the context they need, when they need it. “I'm looking forward to hearing where Chris takes the show. Glover, seen here participating in the CN Tower's EdgeWalk, will take over hosting duties on May 21.”"
