"In addition, CBC News has learned Carney will also name additional projects that are at an earlier stage and require further development, but could be part of the next wave for consideration: Wind West Atlantic Energy, supporting wind power in Atlantic Canada. The Alberta-based Pathways Plus carbon capture project. An Arctic economic and security corridor. Upgrades to the Port of Churchill. All-weather road infrastructure in Northern Canada. The Alto high-speed rail corridor between Toronto and Quebec City."
Five major nation-building projects are slated for initial consideration, including Phase two of LNG Canada in Kitimat to double liquefied natural gas production; the Darlington New Nuclear Project to produce small modular reactors; the Contrecur Terminal Container Project to expand the Port of Montreal; the McIlvenna Bay Foran copper mine in Saskatchewan; and the expansion of the Red Chris Mine in northwestern B.C. The list will be sent to a newly created major projects office for review. Additional earlier-stage projects under consideration include Atlantic wind power, the Pathways Plus carbon capture project, an Arctic corridor, Port of Churchill upgrades, northern all-weather roads, and the Alto high-speed rail corridor.
