Cape Cod National Seashore is going cashless
Briefly

Starting July 1, Cape Cod National Seashore will implement a cashless payment system at beach parking lots, accepting only credit, debit, or mobile payments. This change aims to streamline operations and enhance safety by reducing cash handling. Park Superintendent Jennifer Flynn noted that cash transactions account for just 10% of sales, allowing staff to focus more on visitor engagement. Fees collected support vital improvements, such as rebuilding Marconi Beach and Beech Forest Trail boardwalks. Cashless payments are in line with federal policies for reducing cash usage across government services.
Beginning July 1, park rangers will only accept credit cards, debit cards, or mobile payments at beach entrance booths as part of a cashless transition.
Moving to a cashless system will reduce the amount of time park staff spend managing cash, therefore increasing their availability to engage with the public.
