Cambodia says Thailand raising tensions with new border crossing rules
Briefly

Cambodia's government has accused Thailand of heightening border tensions by implementing new restrictions that severely limit land crossings into Cambodia, affecting tourists. This comes after an armed confrontation resulted in a Cambodian soldier's death, sparking diplomatic conflict. Despite a mutual agreement to de-escalate, tensions remain high. The Thai army's recent order permits only essential crossings, leaving tourists stranded. In retaliation, Cambodia has enacted various boycotts against Thailand, such as halting imports of Thai goods and limiting power supplies. Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed a commitment to peace but affirmed resistance against perceived abuse.
The Cambodian government has already stated that we will not initiate any border closure, and that it will also lift restrictions if Thailand does so first.
Cambodia has boycotted some Thai internet services, banned Thai fruits and vegetables and blocked electricity and fuel supplies from Thailand in response to the border dispute.
