Blow for Rosslare Europort as Stena Line announces decision to withdraw service
Briefly

Stena Line announced the withdrawal of its Rosslare-Cherbourg route effective September 30, despite having reintroduced the Stena Vision earlier this year. The decision followed a strategic route review aimed at optimizing the company's investment and resource use in the Irish Sea. Stena Line expressed commitment to supporting affected personnel and improving their existing services. They plan to upgrade their Irish Sea infrastructure and introduce new freight vessels to enhance their network. The company reflected on its proud history and commitment to high-quality service amidst these changes.
Our priority is, as always, the care of our people and customers. We've already met with our colleagues and over this period of consultation we will be working with any individual affected to consider all options, including redeployment opportunities.
Stena Line has stated its intention to "continue to strengthen" its Irish Sea network, pointing to a recent upgrading of infrastructure in Fishguard, as well as terminals in Liverpool and Belfast.
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank our employees, customers and delivery partners over the past 11 years. Our Rosslare-Cherbourg service is one that we will always be proud of.
The decision to withdraw the route entirely was taken on foot of a 'strategic route review' intended to strengthen the company's investment in the Irish Sea.
