Siyad walked out of the Ottawa Courthouse after the ruling while co-accused Abdullahi "Avon" Osman remained in custody on an outstanding warrant. Siyad, Osman and Mohamed Shire faced allegations of a targeted drive-by shooting on May 28, 2021 that killed brothers Abdulaziz and Mohamad Abdullah and injured a third.
