2 Toronto school boards open new virtual offices to help parents navigate concerns | CBC News
"The offices "will ensure parents have a direct way to raise concerns, get help, and find solutions faster," Education Minister Paul Calandra said in a message to TDSB families last November."
"Calandra said the offices will help parents get "answers on broader community concerns, contentious or complex issues, or matters that need to be escalated after speaking with the school.""
"'The Student and Family Support Office will act as an additional way to help you get answers on broader community concerns, contentious or complex issues, or matters that need to be escalated after speaking with the school,' Ontario Education Minister Paul Calandra said."
Ontario required the Toronto District School Board (TDSB) and Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) to open virtual student and family support offices in January while both boards remain under provincial supervision. The offices allow parents to escalate unresolved school concerns via email and phone at TDSB and via an online form, email or phone at TCDSB. The offices are expected to acknowledge messages within 48 hours and address requests within five business days. Five additional Ontario boards are scheduled to open similar offices this month. Trustees caution the new offices cannot replace services available before provincial supervision, and some parents are cautiously optimistic.
