Tilenius worked as a flight instructor in Erie and had taught flying in the Bay Area. He planned to start as a commercial pilot with GoJet next month. He graduated from Crystal Springs Uplands School in 2021 and attended Case Western Reserve University before pausing studies to pursue flying. A funeral will be held Oct. 30 in San Mateo, with a larger memorial planned.
