Where Is The Governor? Newsom Isn't Releasing his Official Calendar
"If he wants to prove to the United States that he would be a good president, why doesn't he start by leading and actually running the state of California?"
"The calendars "will be provided as soon as they are ready for release.""
"Governor Newsom has been among the most transparent governors in California's history and we'll continue to share his calendar, as always, with the transparency, diligence, and accuracy it deserves,"
Critics contend Gov. Gavin Newsom has devoted attention to national profile-building through a weekly political podcast and travel to early primary states. A May poll found twice as many California voters believe he is emphasizing a national profile over addressing state problems. Republican Bill Essayli questioned why Newsom would not focus on running the state if he seeks to prove presidential readiness. CalMatters requests for monthly calendars under the California Public Records Act have gone unfulfilled for five months, with no 2025 calendars provided. Legal affairs staff said the calendars "will be provided as soon as they are ready for release," and a spokesperson said they will be released when "finalized and ready for public disclosure."
