California's fire season has begun with significant wildfires, especially in Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The Wolf fire has expanded over 2,400 acres, prompting evacuations and road closures. Fire crews have achieved 30% containment. Evacuation orders impact many residents, with shelters provided for displaced households. The Juniper fire has also led to evacuation orders affecting a large number of people and structures. Authorities warn that current conditions are a precursor to more extensive fire activity in the upcoming hot months.
The fast-growing Wolf fire erupted Sunday afternoon, quickly growing to more than 2,400 acres and forcing evacuations and road closures near Banning. More than 300 fire personnel, four helicopters, and 70 engines are on site to contain the blaze.
Evacuation orders remain in effect for most areas of Banning and Cabazon south of Interstate 10. An evacuation shelter has been established at Hemet High School for affected households.
