"Jennalyn Apodaca, Alameda basketball: Apodaca scored 16 points to lead Alameda as the Hornets routed College Park 63-35 at home. She added 19 points as Alameda beat Tracy 66-24. Gabriela Clement, St. Mary's-Berkeley: Clement posted a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds as St. Mary's beat St. Patrick-St. Vincent 63-47 in the Tri-County Athletic League Rock Division opener for both teams."
A weekly Athlete of the Week poll gathers nominations and fan votes for standout high school performances. Polls close at 5 p.m. Wednesday and email votes are not counted. Voters may cast multiple votes before the deadline but may not use bots or other artificial voting methods. Winners are announced each Friday online and in the Mercury News and East Bay Times sports sections. Nominations are accepted via highschools@bayareanewsgroup.com until 11 a.m. each Monday and submitted statistics from coaches and team statisticians are reviewed. This week's nominees include Jennalyn Apodaca, Gabriela Clement, Adhuna Devineni, Celeste Gaucin-Robles, and Zoey Hinkle, with their game highlights listed.
