"Nayar's departure is part of what appears to be a continuing exodus from the city. Sharon Lund, the city's community engagement manager, left Vallejo at the start of this month, City of Vallejo Spokesperson Robert Briseno confirmed. Naveed Ashraf, the city's IT director, left in August, Melissa Tigbao, the city's public works director, left in May and Michael Nimon, the economic development director, left in January."
Rekha Nayar left Vallejo after nearly nine years to join the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District, with her last day confirmed on Thursday and her new role starting next week. Her departure follows several recent executive exits including Sharon Lund (community engagement manager), Naveed Ashraf (IT director), Melissa Tigbao (public works director) and Michael Nimon (economic development director). Ashraf was hired by the City of Fairfield; Nimon began as economic development director in Walnut Creek; Tigbao took a public works director role in Pacifica. Nayar previously held international accounting roles at Williams-Sonoma and Room to Read. As Vallejo finance director, she implemented strict internal controls, led creation of the $200 million annual budget, and executed process automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
