Ventura offers a laid-back atmosphere reminiscent of classic California surf culture. Visitors enjoy the relaxed vibe without the need for reservations typical in Southern California. The downtown area has unique thrift stores and delicious bakeries, enhancing the local experience. Notable beaches are accessible for spontaneous enjoyment, and the town is just under two hours from Los Angeles. Popular accommodations include Zachari Dunes, with beachfront suites, and the boutique-style Inn on the Beach, featuring ocean views. Hotel San Buena represents another appealing lodging option in downtown Ventura.
"You'll find sandy feet in bars, surfboards strapped to the roof of cars, and dogs enjoying a beach walk. Ventura's more surf, suds, and sand. Less glitz and glamor," says Julie Madsen, the communications and public relations manager at Visit Ventura, who has lived in the town her whole life.
"You don't have to pretend to be a certain type of person to blend in here in Ventura. You can just simply be and experience Ventura."
