"When winter weather moves in faster than expected, even experienced outdoorsmen can find themselves in a tough spot. Yesterday, a camper exploring in Holcomb Valley, just a few miles from the Pacific Crest Trail, became stranded after more than three feet of snow blanketed the area," SBCFD wrote in a post on X."
""With the help of our snowcat here, we're going to pick this guy up and bring him home to his family safely," San Bernardino County Fire Department captain Anthony Muscarello said in the video."
A camper became stranded several miles into Holcomb Valley after more than three feet of snow fell, leaving the area impassable by foot. San Bernardino County Fire Department deployed a Snowcat 96 to traverse the snow-covered landscape and locate the camper and his dog near their car. The man had been stuck for several days but was equipped with food, water and supplies. Video captured the Snowcat traveling over the vast terrain and showed the dog snug in a coat and hat. Rescuers loaded the dog and camper into the Snowcat and transported them back to safety.
