Six Women Who Loved the Outdoors Identified as Victims In Avalanche
"Caroline spent her final days doing what she loved best, with the people who loved her most, in her favorite place."
"She was with me, her children and our puppy, and then on one last adventure with her sister and close friends, who she now rests with."
"They were all mothers, wives and friends, all of whom connected through the love of the outdoors. They were passionate, skilled skiers who cherished time together in the mountains."
Six women died in an avalanche in Nevada County during a planned backcountry ski trip near Donner Pass. The victims were a group of friends with Bay Area ties who regularly traveled together with their families to remote ski huts. Two sisters among the victims were Caroline Sekar, 45, of San Francisco, and Liz Clabaugh, 52, of Boise. Other identified victims are Carrie Atkin, Danielle Keatley, Kate Morse, and Kate Vitt, who worked at Sirius/XM and lived in Greenbrae. Families described them as mothers, wives, friends, and passionate, skilled skiers who cherished time in the mountains. A backcountry educator, Sarah Reynaud, had been scheduled on the same trip.
