Saratoga State of the City focuses on preparation, connection and protection
"Usually at the State of the City, we'll list out all of the things that we did," Aftab said. "But behind each of those items is a story, where people in our city-residents, city staff, nonprofits, agencies-they all came together to try and make things better for the place we all call home."
"My sincere hope is that for all of the new neighbors that will be coming to Saratoga, we'll be welcoming and kind to them just as we do with all of our existing neighbors today," Aftab said."
Saratoga prioritized wildfire preparedness, infrastructure improvements, community connections, and economic vitality. Residents, city staff, nonprofits, and agencies coordinated local efforts and community programs. A Safe Routes to School event offered a bicycle obstacle course, helmet fittings, bike repairs, safety education, and free helmets for students. Local elected officials and county fire, sheriff, and school board representatives attended. The city emphasized prepare, connect, and protect priorities, noted participation in Firewise USA and the Santa Clara County FireSafe Council, allocated $349,000 for vegetation management in parks and trails, and encouraged defensible space as housing growth continues.
