The Alameda corridor formed a community benefit improvement district (CBID) that will collect more than $327,000 annually from property owners between Schiele and Stockton avenues to fund security, cleaner streets, and beautification projects. The Alameda Business Association will manage the funds and allocate resources over a 15-year term with an option for property owners to renew. The district takes effect in January after City Council approval. The CBID will cover a portion of the corridor's 454 businesses. CBIDs are quasi-public entities that assess property-based fees for residential and commercial properties. CBID funding is considered more reliable than business-license–based improvement district funds.
