A powerful gas-line explosion in Hayward caused extensive damage beyond the originating home, producing visible cracks and structural failures in nearby houses. Neighbors reported new lines and two-foot cracks appearing overnight, prompting concern about home stability. Several homes adjacent to the blast zone were deemed uninhabitable and residents were evacuated, with at least one resident staying with family out of town. Emergency responders transported three people in serious condition to hospitals; those patients are now stable. Reported injuries include burns, respiratory issues, and bone fractures. PG&E confirmed that three of the six injured were company employees.
