Pruneyard Cinemas in Campbell not closing - San Jose Spotlight
"We are thrilled to announce that Pruneyard Cinemas is open for business,"
"Your enthusiasm and encouragement were instrumental in helping us reach an agreement with Regency Centers, allowing us to continue serving our beloved community of Campbell and the South Bay,"
"overwhelming support"
Pruneyard Cinemas announced that it reached an agreement with its landlord and will remain open after a years-long rent dispute. The theater had planned to close due to rising costs and mounting financial pressure. Pruneyard Cinemas filed a lawsuit against Regency Centers alleging unfair rent increases and mismanagement during a period of industry decline. Longtime patrons and nearby businesses expressed dismay at the pending closure and later offered overwhelming support. Regency Centers did not immediately respond to requests for comment, and Pruneyard Cinemas declined further comment. The theater blamed financial difficulties on the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 Hollywood strikes.
