The Rio Hondo League will merge with the Pacific League after this season. The team runs an offense modeled on Bobby Knight's Indiana system with minor tweaks, which prompts opponents to play zone because man-to-man yields many layups. Hofman emphasizes coaching neighborhood kids and insists he never recruited players. Peers praise his passing game and long-term commitment. He plans to continue coaching while his wife Cindy still enjoys the game.
