"I spent...hours on the phone, they said 'no problem',"
"48 hours later... huge, massive problem."
"All of my information was deleted -- and they're like well... we did nothing wrong."
"I'm like OK, I'm NOT this person... names, addresses, telephone number, routing number, bank account number... I could not get into anything... no statements, nothing!"
Erik Reese, owner of Paradiso in San Leandro, was locked out of his DoorDash merchant portal after a July 28 call about an alleged change of ownership. Account names, addresses, telephone number, routing number and bank account information were replaced, and account statements became inaccessible. Reese spent hours contacting DoorDash support and received a link from a representative to regain access, only to find data deleted. DoorDash confirmed the merchant account was hacked and indicated evidence points to a phone scam beginning July 9, while maintaining there was no breach of its systems.
