A small plane made an emergency landing in a field near Coast Road on Saturday just north of the Santa Cruz city limits. Cecile Juliette, a public information officer with the Cal Fire San Mateo-Santa Cruz Unit, said the aircraft carried a pilot and a student and lost power while flying over Scotts Valley, prompting the emergency landing. The pilot and the student passenger aboard were not injured, and the plane landed undamaged. Multiple reports said that the plane took off from the San Carlos Flight Center at San Carlos Airport.
