Parts of northbound Interstate 680 set to close for weekend construction
Briefly

Northbound Interstate 680 will close from 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for construction, with lane closures starting at 8 p.m. Friday. A detour will direct traffic from Mission Boulevard/Highway 238 to Niles Canyon Road/Highway 84, with heavy traffic anticipated on this route. Crews will resurface the bridge deck and perform slab repairs without live traffic for safety. Old Canyon Road will also close at Niles Canyon Road during the same hours. Future nighttime closures will occur through spring 2026, and closures are weather dependent.
The highway will be closed at the Mission Boulevard/Highway 238 exit beginning 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday, Caltrans said in a traffic advisory.
A detour will be available for motorists to get around the construction by traveling on northbound Mission Boulevard/Highway 238 to Niles Canyon Road/Highway 84 and then back onto I-680 at Calaveras Road.
This work must be performed without live traffic to ensure worker and motorist safety. Concentrating these operations during weekend closures will help reduce the overall duration and impact of the project.
Old Canyon Road will also be closed at its intersection with Niles Canyon Road from 3 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday to help prevent freeway traffic from detouring through residential neighborhoods.
