"The department's five-week "Missing Person Monday" campaign, in which police shared photos and last known whereabouts of people that they consider missing in the hope that community members can provide information about where they are now, kicked off Jan. 5. One person, 68-year-old Harvey Thompson, was located in a different California city thanks to a Facebook post, bringing the total number of resolved cases to 14 since the campaign started two years ago,"
"The campaign was first developed and led by intern Erica Meyer in 2024. At the time, Meyer said she developed the campaign after running into dead ends in her investigations. "I really felt if I could get their photos out I might get a call from a co-worker or friend who could lead me in the right direction," Meyer told The Press Democrat in 2024. Investigators with the department continued the campaign following Meyer's departure in 2025."
The five-week Missing Person Monday campaign began Jan. 5 and featured 23 cold cases. One person, 68-year-old Harvey Thompson, was located in a different California city after a Facebook post; he was reported missing by his landlord in July 2025. The campaign has resolved 14 cases since launching two years earlier. Intern Erica Meyer developed and led the campaign in 2024 after encountering investigative dead ends and seeking community leads via shared photos. Investigators continued the effort after Meyer's 2025 departure. Previous campaigns in 2024 and 2025 ran multiple weeks and resolved additional cold cases dating back to 1984.
