Oakland woman who cleaned out fentanyl stash house after husband's death sentenced to prison
"Reanos-Moreno came to the United States from Honduras, following threats against her family by the MS-13 gang. The smugglers promised Fany that a legitimate job was awaiting her in the Bay Area, but, when they arrived, they told her that there was no such job and that she had to sell drugs in order to repay them, resulting in numerous arrests (though no charges or convictions) for street-level drug dealing starting in August 2019, according to a defense sentencing memo."
"On April 28, 2024, Reanos-Moreno's 22-year-old husband allegedly shot himself during an argument with Reanos-Moreno inside the couple's Oakland home. She later admitted that she called several friends and family members to clean up a large amount of drugs and a pill press from the home before calling 911, according to authorities. She was later charged in federal court with drug dealing."
Fany Reanos-Moreno, 33, pleaded guilty to methamphetamine and fentanyl distribution charges and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge William Orrick on Feb. 5. She came to the United States from Honduras after threats against her family by the MS-13 gang; smugglers promised a legitimate Bay Area job but allegedly forced her to sell drugs to repay them, leading to numerous arrests starting in August 2019. On April 28, 2024, her 22-year-old husband allegedly shot himself during an argument; she admitted calling others to remove a large quantity of drugs and a pill press before calling 911. Authorities seized roughly $63,000 in suspected drug proceeds and found various drugs, a ledger with per-kilogram prices, and empty kilogram wraps, and prosecutors challenged her coercion claim during sentencing.
