San Mateo County prosecutors declined to file criminal charges against a 19-year-old driver after a crash in Burlingame on August 8, 2025, when the driver's car jumped a curb and crashed into a restaurant. The crash followed a chain reaction involving a bicyclist and an e-bike. Four-year-old Ayden Fang was killed and a 6-year-old girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Stanford Medical Center. Authorities reported that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors and the driver was not arrested. Ayden's family had been meeting another family at the restaurant; his mother described him as generous and affectionate.
