"A fire at a PG&E substation in the South Bay caused a massive power outage on Christmas Eve, officials said. The fire happened at the Saratoga station at approximately 8:25 a.m., the utility said in a post on X. As of 12:30 p.m., about 2,600 customers in Santa Clara County are without power, according to PG&E's outage map."
"Significant power ourages also are affecting approximately 4,100 customers in San Mateo County and about 18,200 customers in Sonoma County. Outside the Bay Area, about 11,000 customers in Santa Cruz are in the dark, as are 16,800 customers in Monterey County, where crews found a damaged power pole. The fire comes just days after another fire at a San Francisco PG&E substation left hundreds of thousands without power for several days."
