Mountain View residents don't want pickleball in Cuesta Park and Annex - San Jose Spotlight
Briefly

Mountain View has seen a rapid increase in pickleball popularity, yet the city has insufficient dedicated courts. Currently, Rengstorff Park has three dedicated courts and six shared with tennis. City officials are considering expanding courts potentially at Cuesta Park or Cuesta Annex, which has sparked concerns among residents. They support new courts but oppose using natural areas for development. Activists have begun a campaign titled "Save Cuesta Park and Annex" to promote alternative locations, highlighting the need to maintain green spaces in the city. Cuesta Park was previously deemed suitable for a facility after extensive site analysis.
"Once it's paved over, it can't come back," said Leslie Friedman, a Mountain View resident who often visits Cuesta Park. "It's peaceful and has a lot of trees and walking trails."
The campaign, dubbed "Save Cuesta Park and Annex," describes the park and adjacent annex as some of the few natural areas left in the city.
